Procables history

Procables, was founded in 1972 in the city of Bogotá, with the main objective of producing and making available to the Colombian market electric cables and wires made of copper and aluminum alloys.
Procables was part of an industrial group with a history of more than fifty years in the country. Likewise, it participated in large rural electrification projects, urban networks and commercial distribution.
In 2012, Procables was acquired by the multinational US General Cable.
Subsequently, in 2018, General Cable was acquired by Prysmian Group, a multinational of Italian origin and a world leader in the electrical and telecommunications cables sector. That is why today Procables is a Prysmian Group brand.
Prysmian Group has its beginnings as a cable division of the Italian group “Pirelli”, a company dedicated to the production of cables. By July 2005, Prysmian acquired the cable and telecommunications systems of the Pirelli group; in 2011 it merged with the Draka cable company and the Prysmian Group was born. Today, with almost 140 years in the market, it has a presence in more than 50 countries, 25 Research and Development centers, 112 plants and more than 30,000 employees.
Procables, a brand Prysmian Group has its production plant in Bogotá which also has an accredited laboratory under the ISO 17025 standard. Procables also has certifications in ISO 9001 - Quality Management System, ISO 14001 - Environmental Management System and ISO 45001 - Occupational Health and Safety Management System.
Through almost 50 years in the Colombian market, Procables has achieved an important recognition locally for which the Procables brand will continue in the country. However, Prysmian Group has implemented a multi-brand strategy with the purpose of expressing visual identity, ensuring coherence and consistency anywhere in the world. This is why Procables presents its new logo:
